Battery care in the heat
Heat kills more batteries than frost does.
A battery usually dies in the cold, but summer heat is what set it up: the electrolyte evaporates and the plates age.
What helps
- Keep the terminals clean and dry.
- Park in the shade where you can.
- Check the voltage and charging current once a year.
- If you mostly drive short trips, give it a full charge now and then.
